This 3 day workshop will go over everything from pitching, creating an effective query, branding and how to best target companies for your work. This program is exclusive only to writers who are part of the Horror Writers Association!

Monday, February 22nd @ 4:00pm - 6:00pm PT

Pitch Prep with Cate Hart, Agent at Harvey Kingler Agency

In this 2 hour pitch prep session, Cate will discuss her do's and don'ts for pitching. After her lecture, volunteers can practice their pitch with Cate for feedback in a roundtable setting!

Query Clinic with Agent Mark Gottlieb from Trident Media Group

In this 2 hour Query Clinic, Mark Gottlieb will talk about his do's and don't's for writing a successful query. Volunteer authors can workshop their hook with Mark in a roundtable setting to get his feedback.

About Cate: 

Cate Hart joined Harvey Klinger Literary Agency in 2019 after 5 years with a New York agency where she represented Middle Grade to Adult fiction. She specializes in Historical, whether in Young Adult, Women’s Fiction and Romance, or narrative nonfiction. She is particularly drawn to oft forgotten stories of the past and underrepresented voices, and especially personal to her is unexplored Southern history and culture. She also loves high-concept fantasy in YA and Adult fiction. Some of her recent projects sold include The Beast Charmer series from Sourcebooks, The Asperfell series from Uproar books, The Nemesis and the Swan from Blackstone. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee with her two teenage children.

Mark Gottlieb is a prominent literary agent working at book publishing’s leading literary agency Trident Media Group in New York City. He has ranked highly among literary agents across the industry for overall number of deals and other individual categories. While at Trident Media Group, Mark Gottlieb has represented New York Times bestselling authors as well as major award-winning authors.
