Pilot Development 101: Laying the Groundwork

Daniel Ross Noble
Independent Producer
Sundays 9/8, 9/15, 9/22, & 9/29 @ 11:00am - 1:00pm PT

Let’s say you have a new idea for a pilot (or several) that’s so exciting you’re chomping at the bit to start writing pages. Before you do, though, it’s imperative that you take the time to develop this idea, flesh out the characters, and outline your pilot. Not only is it all too easy to get lost in the woods and bogged down in little details when jumping right into drafting pages, but a strong pilot, one with a focused direction and active protagonist, is really made in the development stage.

That’s why Roadmap is offering this intensive four-week course to help both experienced writers and newcomers alike hone in on the story and themes you want to be writing about, create a killer outline, and tackle the first draft like a pro!

This Four-Week Course Will Cover:

  • Concepts
  • Character
  • Stakes
  • Dialogue
  • Outlines
  • Personalized Feedback and Live Q&A
About Your Host

A San Francisco Bay area native, Daniel Ross Noble began his career in unscripted television and quickly fell into the literary world working with Lindsay Howard at Agency for the Performing Arts. After his agency days, he worked with Ellen Pompeo at Calamity Jane Entertainment as her Director of Development. Daniel most recently completed his time at Thinkfactory Media as their Director of Development where he most notably acquired, sold, and developed #fashionvictim for E! Network/UCP that was picked up to pilot in October 2017 and shot in NYC in December 2017. Recently, Daniel has been consulting for Pop Sugar Studios as well as producing independently, working on various projects including an hour drama set up at eOne, a YA Horror based on IP set up with Working Title/Universal, as well as an hour musical dramedy, among others.

Daniel was Co-President of JHRTS for their 2015-2016 term, a board member of HRTS Associates since 2016, and continues to work with several organizations within Hollywood including the NY Television Festival, Motion Picture Television Fund, Hollywood Stars for a Cause, and others. In addition, he volunteers his time with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, Gay Men's Chorus LA, Project Angelfood, and running a charity he started during the holidays nine years ago; collecting thousands of dollars of socks and underwear and distributing them to the homeless on Christmas day along with a warm meal. In his free time, he enjoys vinyasa flow class, belting out musical theatre ballads at Rockwell Table & Stage, and planning his next big international trip.
