If you’re anything like us, you’ve been paying attention to the rise of streaming and cable and wondered “does this mean that traditional network television isn’t going to be around much longer?” We’re with you. The thought crossed our minds as well, but then we found out that the most money for producers and showrunners is still from network shows. Network writers rooms are much larger so there’s a greater overall need for writers, and diversity programs feed writers into network shows.
Once we knew that, we started wondering about what goes in to a network show. What is the difference between network and cable/streaming, for example? Are there certain concepts that work better for one platform over the other? And should you, as a writer, have a network sample?
Don’t worry! Anna Henry is here to answer all this and more!
This 90 Minute Webinar Will Cover:
Anna Henry began her 20-year career as a development executive at Nickelodeon, working on the development and production of animated television series, pilots and features, including the cult hit INVADER ZIM. She crossed over to prime-time television working at CBS and ABC in drama development and programming, and freelanced as a creative consultant for a number of production companies.
She was most recently Director of Development at Andrea Simon Entertainment, a boutique literary management and production company representing writers and directors, where she continues to consult and produce on projects. Her clients have worked on shows at virtually every broadcast and major cable television network, and have set up projects at ITV America, Sony, 20th Television, eOne, Starz, Amazon, OddLot Entertainment, Corus, and others. She is currently developing a series for the UK market in association with BBC Studios. She enjoys having a close collaboration with writers in refining scripts, expanding their range of material, and finding the best home for each project. Anna is a graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
